Introduction
This paper has been divided into three parts. The first part deals with describing and
analyzing two principles of coaching which are indirectness and the belief about strengths in
positive psychology coaching. The second part is mainly about the journey of the writer as
a newcomer to the world of the coaching so far, his transformation from a therapeutic
approach to coaching methodology, his strengths and weaknesses in this switching and the
struggles that he encountered in choosing executive or life coaching as a main
direction,finally, there is a section about the actual road-map of his career as a coach for
directionfinally

Raising awareness through coaching
Introduction
Coaching as a professional service has its ethics, regulation and boundaries. As coaches’ values
are our moral compass and ethics which we learn and take from the professional bodies as well
as the dilemmas we face together; guide us through our work to make sure we provide to the
clients best interest. However, this also contributes to the development of the coaches progress.
Coaching and other helping systems like mentoring, counselling have a standard method of
assisting people to change. What exactly do people want to change? It is mostly their actions and
behaviours. In order to achieve these goals, it is worth investigating how behaviours are shaped
psychologically and why it is necessary to increase self-awareness prior to any changes that
coaching may make.
Coaching values, like honesty, confidentiality underlies in the centre of any coaching activity.

The purpose, role and application of coaching
Introduction
Throughout history, humans have sought help in becoming more powerful in their lives to follow
their dreams and reaching their goals. This help has been through religious clergies, philosophers
and even shamans have helped people to find their inner capacities to choose new aspects of the
life. In the last century, different traditions and methods have arisen in society to contribute to such
issues. Psychotherapy, mentoring, training; supervision, counselling and coaching are the best
examples of advanced ways to help the human mind to be empowered and to cope difficulties and,
achieve overall well-being and better self-development in different aspects of life work.
Each of the above has its discipline and methodology which is essential to consider when choosing
the appropriate option for a specific goal.
This short assignment will try to evaluate “coaching” as one of the fastest developing industries in
the world of social skills and traditions for self and other types of development. Coaching is
estimated to involve about two billion dollars in the USA, annually as an Executive Director at
The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, claims in her article in Forbes (Whittaker,
۲۰۱۷). She also refers to the surveys of the international federation of coaching to state that North
America and Western Europe had about 36000 professional coaches at the end of 2016 which is
considerable (Whittaker Dunlop, 2017). So, it is interesting to look more closely at the theory
behind this desirable new career option from the last 50 years
The purpose of coaching will be summarised, while the main differences between coaching and
mentoring will be explored. Coaching requires certain qualities and skills, to be able to deliver
high standards of coaching services to clients. An emphasis will be put on “active listening and
good questioning” as one of the most competitive advantages a good coach will have.
